I always loved that song by Diana Ross. Do you know where you’re going, what you want for your life, your career? Did you know that your desires dictate the course of your life? They motivate you, determine what you will do, what you’ll go after, even how you think. Your desires, and your dreams, actually pave the way to your success.
If that’s the case, why haven’t we all realized our greatest desires? Could it be that we haven’t really acted on our dreams? Or maybe we think that we have, but the results just aren’t there yet. What is it that you desire, and what are you doing to achieve it? Do your actions really reflect your desires? Here are 3 steps to start you on the path to realizing your dreams.
First, you’ve got to see it for yourself – see yourself doing that thing that you want to do, living that lifestyle that you want to live! Picture in your mind today what you will attain physically tomorrow. Visualization is powerful; if you can see yourself doing well, then you do well. Begin visualizing yourself achieving your dreams.
Second, have a plan and apply it towards realizing your dream. If you’ve visualized where you’re trying to go, map it, determine what those steps look like, what they’ll include. Maybe its personal development; perhaps it’s finding and associating with other like-minded people. Whatever it is, take action, and start working toward your goal.
Third, and probably most important, whatever else you do, don’t become weary or lose faith in your dream – stay focused on what you want to happen and not on what you don’t want. You’ll need to be persistent and passionate, willing to put forth the necessary effort to grow into the kind of person who goes after and reaches their dreams. It won’t just happen by osmosis.
So dream big, and keep moving forward. I challenge you to stop making excuses for why you can’t accomplish what you were born to do.
Want to take positive action toward your goals? I’d love to help you with your plan.
